THE CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son , our Lord; who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into the dead; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting .Amen.


THE OUR FATHER

Our Father in heaven Holy be your name, your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the test, but deliver us from evil. Amen.


THE HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.


THE GLORY BE TO THE FATHER

PRAYER FOR THE CHURCH IN MALAYSIA

God our Father You led your people to the promised land We thank you for reminding us that You will be our God and we shall be your people and for the marvellous ways in which You lead us Your people today.

You call us to make Your Kingdom present in our communities. Forgive us for the times we have failed to allow Your coming into our hearts and making You present in our lives.

Lead us by Your light Move us in Your grace Touch us with Your mercy Sustain us with Your strength Fill us with hope so that we shall be able to journey As Your chosen people with one mind and one heart towards the Jubilee Year 2000

My God I love You with all my heart because You are so good; and I love my neighbour as myself for the love of You.

My God I am very sorry that I have sinned against You, because You are so good and with the help of Your grace, I will try not to sin again.


HAIL HOLY QUEEN

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope; To you do we cry poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, most holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.


HOW TO PRAY THE ROSARY

1. Make the Sign of the Cross and say the "Apostles Creed" on the crucifix.

2. Say the "Our Father" on the large bead. 3. Say three "Hail Marys" on the large beads. 4. Say the "Glory be to the Father" 5. Announce the first Mystery; then say the Our Father. 6. Say ten "Hail Marys while meditating on the Mystery. 7. Say the "Glory be to the Father" 8. Announce the Second Mystery: then say the "Our Father". Repeat 6 and 7 and continue with the Third, Fourth and Fifth Mysteries in the same manner. 

THE 1ST JOYFUL MYSTERY - THE ANNUNCIATION The Archangel announces to Mary that she has been chosen by God to become the Mother of The Saviour who was to come into the world as man. When Mary understood that this was God’s holy Will, she consented and said, "Be it done unto me according to Thy word." The Holy Spirit at once overshadowed her with His power and the Word was made flesh; that is, the Son of God become man!

THE 2ND JOYFUL MYSTERY - THE VISITATION When Mary learned from the Angel that her cousin Elizabeth was about to have a son, she hastened with Joseph to visit her in Hebron 90 miles away, in order to stay and assist her for about three months. The presence of Jesus in Mary’s womb purified yet the unborn St. John the Baptist from original sin, and filled him with sanctifying grace. We must learn from Mary’s example charitably to give assistance to those in need.

THE 3RD JOYFUL MYSTERY - THE BIRTH OF JESUS Contemplate with joy and gratitude the Saviour born at midnight in a stable, under conditions of great poverty. The angels announce the news to poor and simple sheperds who came at once to worship Him. Angels above the cave sing the praises of God, and the three Magi arrive later on. Let us rejoice in Jesus our Saviour. And give Him joy by receiving Him often in Holy Communion.

THE 4TH JOYFUL MYSTERY - THE PRESENTATION When the Infant Jesus was 40 days old, Mary and Joseph took Him to the temple in Jerusalem to be presented to the eternal Father, according to the law. The High Priest Simeon who offered up the Child prophesied that Jesus would suffer contradictions and persecutions from wicked men in times to come. We too who were presented to God and consecrated in the Holy Baptism. Let us always be faithful to our Baptismal PROMISES.

THE 5TH JOYFUL MYSTERY - THE FINDING IN THE TEMPLE When the boy Jesus was 12 years old, He accompanied His parents to the temple in Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. After the ceremonies the child was missed, and actually lost for three days. At last, they found Him in the temple, conversing with the doctors of the law. Should we lose Jesus by serious sin, we must hasten to regain His friendship and His grace by sincere repentance and Confession.

THE 1ST SORROWFUL MYSTERY - CHRIST AGONY IN GETHSEMANE During Christ’s hour-long prayer on that Thursday night, He foresaw that millions would reject Him and His invitation to Heaven! This thought threw in into an agony of suffering, so that He sweated blood that trickled down His body while He prayed thus, "Father, not My will, but Your Will be done." We too, when suffering intensely, must pray for strength to do Gods holy will, because He wills only what is best for us.

THE 2ND SORROWFUL MYSTERY - THE SCROUGING Jesus the Son of God is stripped of His clothes and tied to a broken shaft of a pillar. He is then scourged until His innocent flesh is torn to shreds, exposing His bare bones. Jesus is atoning for sins of impurity. We must never defile our body which is the temple of the holy Spirit, by any impure action.

THE 3RD SORROWFUL MYSTERY - THE SROWNING OF THORNS Christ the King of Kings submitted to this mocking ceremony of being crowned as a king, with a crown of thorns!. For a septre, they made Him hold a long reed. His torturers then pulled His beard, spat upon Him, blindfolded Him, and struck Him saying, "Hail, King of the Jews! Tell us who it is that struck You!." Jesus thus atoned for all the sins of bad thoughts and impure desires.

THE 4TH SORROWFUL MYSTERY - THE CARRYING OF THE CROSS Jesus is made to made to carry His cross up Mt. Calvary. This torture coming after the scourging and the crowning with thorns, causes Jesus to suffer incredibly from the loss of blood, thirst and weekness. He falls three times on the way, but nevers complains, being mindful only of His Heavenly Father’s will. Our suffering are our crosses sent to us by God. We must bear them patiently in atonement for our sins.

THE 5TH - SORROWFUL MYSTERY - THE CRUCIFIXION The first word Jesus uttered when hanging on the cross was a prayer for His enemies: "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." He then told His mother to adopt all mankind as her children, and then promised Heaven to the repentant thief. After three hours of agony, He commended His soul to His eternal Father, bowed His head, and died. After Christ’s example, we are bound to forgive our enemies

THE 1ST GLORIOUS MYSTERY - THE RESSURECTION Part of three days after the crucifixion, very early on Sunday morning, Christ came out of His tomb in glorified form, as He had so many times foretold. The guards seeing the tomb empty, fled in terror. Our bodies too will be glorifies on the last day, if we die in Gods friendship. The damned will NOT be glorified, rather the reverse. Let us pray for the grace of a happy death.

THE 2ND GLORIOUS MYSTERY - THE ASCENSION Forty days after the Resurrection, our beloved Saviour commanded His apostles to go and preach the Good News to all nations. After blessing them, in the presence of five hundred people gathered there, He rose heavenward. As disciples of Christ ourselves, we must live according to the TEN COMMANDMENTS if we wish to gain the ETERNAL joys of HEAVEN.

THE 3RD GLORIOUS MYSTERY - THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT On Pentecost day, ten days after Christ’s Ascension, the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles and the Blessed Virgin, as Jesus had promised them. He appeared in the form of tongues of fire resting above their heads. We too received the Holy Spirit at Confirmation, and should be apostles in our little way, to help our non-Catholic brethren into the true Church.

THE 4TH GLORIOUS MYSTERY - THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN About three days after the burial of Mary the apostles went to her tomb to pray, and discovered to their profound amazement, that she the sacred body was no longer there. It was therefore clear that God did not permit this sinless body to corrupt in the tomb, but ordered the angels to take her up to Heaven, body and soul united.

THE 5TH GLORIOUS MYSTERY - THE CORONATION OF MARY IN HEAVEN As soon as the HUMBLE VIRGIN MARY entered Heaven, God exalted Her to such a wonderful degree of glory, that all the inhabitants of heaven (Angels as well as Saints) acclaimed her as their QUEEN. Mary revealed it to Blessed Alanus that God has chosen the Hail Mary prayer to be a special means of saving our soul. Let us therefore take a delight in saying this prayer everyday without fail, especially in the Rosary. 


 

MORNING PRAYER

Lord, in the quiet of this morning hour,

I come to Thee for peace, for wisdom, power

To view the world today through love-filled eyes;

Be patient, understanding, gentle, wise;

To see beyond what seems to be, and know

Thy children as Thou knowest them; and so

O Mary, Powerful Virgin, you are the mighty and glorious protector of the Holy Church; you are the marvellous Help of Christians; you are terrible as an army in battle array; you alone have destroyed ever heresy in the whole world. In the midst of our anguish, our struggles and our distress defend us from the power of the enemy and at the hour of our death receive our souls in Paradise. Amen

O glorious St Anthony, who didst enjoy the sweet privilege of receiving into thy arms the Infant Jesus, I beseech thee to take me under they powerful protection. Thou in whom the power of working miracles shines forth among the other gifts of God, have pity upon me and come to my aid in this my great need (Make your petition).

Cleanse my heart from every disorderly affection, obtain for me a true contrition for my sins and a great love of God and of my neighbour that serving God faithfully in this life, I may come to praise, enjoy and bless Him eternally with thee in Paradise. Amen

NOVENA PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR

 

O Mother of Perpetual Succour, behold me a miserable sinner at thy feet. I have recourse to thee and put my trust in thee. O Mother of Mercy, have pity upon me, I hear thee called by all, the refuge and the hope of sinners, be then my refuge and my hope. Succour me for the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth thy hand to me, a poor sinner, who recommend and dedicate myself to thee, as thy perpetual servant. I bless and thank God, for, having in his Mercy given me this confidence in Thee, the pledge, as I believe, of my eternal salvation. Alas, too often in past times have I miserably fallen, because I had not recourse to thee, I know that with thy help I shall conquer. I know that thou will help me, if I recommend myself to thee, but I fear lest in the occasion of falling, I should cease to call upon thee, and, so should loose my soul. This then is the grace I seek from thee, and I beg of thee, as far as I know how and can, to obtain it for me, namely, in the assaults of hell, always to have recourse to thee and to say to thee; O Mary, help me, Mother of Perpetual Succor, suffer me not to lose my God. NOVENA PRAYER TO ST. MARTHA

St. Martha, I resort to thy protection, and as a proof of my affection and faith, I offer this light which I shall burn every Tuesday.

 

Comfort me in all my difficulties through the great favour thou didst enjoy when the Saviour lodged at thy house. I beseech thee to have pity in regard to the favour I ask of thee (Mentioned Request), I ask of thee, St Martha to overcome all these difficulties as thou didst the dragon at thy feet.

Jesus Christ, and who, whilst embracing Him of affectionately did have a foretaste of the bliss of heaven, I beseech you, obtain for me full pardon of my sins and the grace of imitating your virtues so that I may ever walk in the path that leads to eternal happiness. As you had the privilege of having Jesus and Mary by your deathbed, and in their arms did breathe forth your soul, I earnestly pray you to protect me from the enemies of my soul in that last moment, so that consoled by the sweet hope of heaven I may expire pronouncing the most Holy names of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Amen.

Grant, we beseech You, through his merits that we may on earth intensely love our holy Angel, the blessed Virgin Mary, and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Grant that we may receive the favour of a complete recovery from our present malady for which we now pray. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

TO ST. ANTHONY (to find a lost article)

 

St. Anthony, perfect imitator of Jesus, who receive from God the special power of restoring lost things, grant that I may find ... whih has been lost. At least restore to me peace and tranquility of mind, the loss of which has afflicted me even more than my material loss. To this favour I ask another of you : that I may always remain in possession of the true good that is God. Let me tather lose all things than lose God, my supreme good. Let me never suffer the loss of my greatest treasure, eternal life with God. Amen.

 

 


TRAVEL PRAYER

 

Father, as we journey these next days, keep us in your loving care. Protect us from danger, from mechanical failure and from violet storms. Make us wise and prudent around water and in the woods or mountains. Give us respect for nature, so that we neither defy its power not defile its beauty. Help us to be kind to one another and to enter into the relaxation of this trip with joyful hearts. May we return home more thankful, more generous and more mindful of your blessings. A PRAYER AGAINST WORRY

 

O God, you are the God of peace, and I am a worrier. Take away my worry and give me some of your peace. Help me not to waste my time worrying about things about which there is nothing to be done, but help me to accept them, and to make the best of them, and to overcome them.

 

Help me not to worry about things which I myself can mend but to do something about them, even it if means a great effort, and even it if means that which is still more difficult - the confessing of my error and the humbling of my pride.

 

Help me tonight to sleep in peace, and to waken a sinner, help me to know and remember that I am a forgiven sinner.

O Almighty and Everlasting God, Who through the co-operation of the Holy Ghost, didst prepare the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mary to be a worthy dwelling place of the Divine Son; and, through the co-operation of the same Holy Ghost didst sanctify St. John the Baptist, while still in his mother's womb; hearken to the prayers of Thy humble servant who implores Thee, through the intercession of St. Gerard, to protect me and amid the dangers of child-bearing and to watch over the child with which Thou hast deigned to bless me; that it may be cleansed by the saving water to Baptism and after a Christian life on earth, it may with its mother attain everlasting bliss in Heaven. O Vrigin Mother of God, favourite daugher of the human race, behold me, unworthy though I be, and see that I too am about to become a mother. Assist me, dear Mother, in honour of your Virginal Maternity to bear the pains of child-birth courageously; and give me strength, physical and moral. Avert from me any unforseen or unnatural circumstances and grant me the privilege of bearing a normal, healthy child.

· How long is it since my last since my last reconciliation?
· Was it incomplete in any way?
· Did I receive the Eucharist without proper preparation?
· Have I remembered God in prayer at the beginning of morn and the close of day?
· Was my prayer with adequate concentration or was it too distracted?
· Have I used unkind words?
· Did I observe a day of rest and honour it as a day of the Lord?
· Have I honoured those above me in authority?
· Have I given in a bad emotions such as anger, self-pity and anxiety?
· Has my inter-personal relationship suffered?
· Have I actually had any broken relationship as a result of it?
· Am I keeping any kind of ill feeling towards anyone?
· Is my sexual integrity compromised in any way?
· Have I been involved in any kind of gossip, detraction, and slander?
· Has there been any self indulgence in my habits of food and drink?
· Have I given in to any kind of grandiosity or pride?
· Has that let me to look down on others?
· Have I come from a heart filled with thanksgiving for what I have received?
· have I been a good influence in society or have I been a source of disunity?
· Have I used the time and talent that God has given me to be productive or have I been slothful?
· Is there anything that leaves me feeling  a deed sense of regret?
· Do I have that same spirit of repentance that was in the Prodigal Son and the Publican in the Gospel?
-Can I sincerely say Have mercy on me Lord for I have sinned?
While the priest gives the absolution, say:
my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins and detest them above all things because they 
deserve Thy dreadful punishment because they have crucified my loving Saviour Jesus Christ, and 
most of all, because they offend Thy infinite goodness and I firmly resolve, by the help of Thy grace, 
never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid the occasions of sin.
